An Old Prague Streetlamp Keeper

The “Old Prague” lamplighter, whom you may encounter during Advent as he lights the gas lamps on Charles Bridge, will give you a guided tour covering the history and present state of gas lamps—both street and indoor. At the entrance to the Pražská plynárenská complex, where the museum is located, a massive flame will shoot up toward the sky from a sculpture depicting the production of gas from coal. The sculpture is lit only on exceptional occasions, which Prague Museum Night certainly is.
